Best of RLA ‘Ritas Recipes

Last week I went to whip up a batch of ‘ritas and forgot the recipe. I had to flip through pages of old RLA posts on my phone and after I finally found the Halloween post with the recipe, I realized I’d left off the part about adding the can of limeade. To make things simple, I figured why not just put all the recipes we’ve tried so far into one post with an easy guide on how to make them, a note on preparation and a quick analysis of how they turned out*.

The Wittbloom Rita Original

  • Fill Blender most of the way with ice.  
  • Add 4 oz. Tequila 
  • Add 2 oz. Orange liquor 
  • Add full can of frozen Limeade
  • Add half can of Mexican beer 
  • Blend until smooth and garnish with lime and salt-rim

Love the color coding of the recipes here, hon! The original is still probably my favorite, although the strawberry comes in at a very close second. This one is easy to drink and absolutely delicious, sweet in all the right ways. I’m always up for a batch of original, but I prefer taking my ‘ritas to flavor town.

Purple Rain Ritas (serves two)

  • Fill blender 3/4 with ice
  • Add 2 ounces tequila
  • Add 2 ounces sweet and sour mix 
  • Add 2 ounces raspberry liqueur 
  • Add 1 ounce lime juice 
  • Add 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • Garnish with Pomegranate salt

I did thoroughly enjoy this ‘rita, but it’s definitely got a different kick to it from the other two. I wouldn’t say it’s tart, but you can definitely taste some of the cran and raspberry flavors going on. Of course the best part of this ‘rita is the pomegranite salt, which I have taken to putting on the rims of all of my ‘rita glasses. Agreed on the Pomegranate salt, but I think these are being underrated by my ‘rita partner. I was aching to make a small batch of them last weekend after a couple rounds of original. The raspberry liquor and cranberry juice add such a refreshing flavor.

Ultimate Strawberry Ritas (serves 4)

  • Add 6 fluid ounces tequila
  • Add 2 fluid ounces triple sec
  • Add 8 ounces frozen sliced strawberries in syrup 
  • Add 4 fluid ounces frozen limeade concentrate
  • Blend until even
  • Garnish rims with powdered sugar
  • Swirl strawberry syrup on top

Ok, Ok, now that I’m really considering the ‘rites — this one is my favorite. I am a huge fan of strawberry in general, and this strawberry ‘rita is so smooth and creamy and delicious, you’ll find yourself enjoying MULTIPLE helpings. (Be responsible though, please!) Yeah, this one is the best we’ve got in our repertoire. Strawberry ‘ritas are consistently the best at bars and at home.
