The Teibloom’s One Year Anniversary

30 May

clockIt’s kind of unbelievable to me that one year has already passed since Zack and I got married. As I was ruminating on this fact while plotting out what to get for my husband, I was filled with warm, gentle loving feelings* towards my partner. Zack and I went through a lot in our first five years together — we lost our jobs, we had some really difficult arguments, we had to find the best way to communicate and respect one another’s boundaries. We’ve still got some big life stuff we’ll need to work through — saving for a house is next on our list — but I feel so confident after this first year of marriage that we are going to work through anything that comes our way, because we have already overcome a lot**. I feel so much love and support from Zack as he cheers me on when I try out boxing, or as I have ANOTHER quarter-mid-existential-life-crisis about my career. I am so happy to have found this wonderful man out there in the world, and it was such a happy occasion*** to celebrate together.

*I was locked into the traditional paper and clocks idea, but getting to go through wedding pictures for my gift gave me warm loving feelings as well.

**They say the first year is the hardest and there have been difficult times, but it’s also been full of joy and love. I spent a big chunk of our first year of marriage recovering from a broken foot and we got stronger as a couple. As Caitlin said, everything we went through together just made me more confident that we will work together forever.

***May 23rd is an extra special day for us because we get to celebrate both our wedding and engagement and both are worth re-living as often as possible.

Rock Love Pre-Wedding Photos

20 Jul

Caitlin-Zack-W-029

This wedding photo-filled post covers our rehearsal dinner and the moment right up to when the ceremony started. Our photographer captured some beautiful family and friend pics at Torchy’s for the rehearsal, in two hotels as we got ready, in front of The Parish with Scooby and inside just before we walked down the aisle. He seriously caught so many magical moments. It’s exactly what I hoped for. Continue reading

Rock Love Wedding Dance Party

12 Jul

Caitlin-Zack-W-463

“Let’s eat cake and dance until they make us stop.” This was how I ended our thank you speech and, thankfully, our friends and family took us up on our desire to dance our newly married butts off until midnight. Once the cake was cut and gobbled up, Caitlin changed into her Pumas*, the band took the stage for an hour and a half and our DJ took us home with 45 minutes of jams that kept the party going. We were told over and over that “I’ve never danced so much at a wedding” and we have the pictures to prove it’s true. Our photographers’ 8 hours of pictures ran out before the last half hour of the night when I stage dove**, but as you’ll see, they captured some pretty epic dance moments.  We’ll go through the night in reverse order, from the end of the All My Friends set up until the cake cutting in the last post. There’s a ton of pictures to get through, so let’s get into it…

*In large part, out of necessity — I managed to get a charlie horse in BOTH of my calves when I sat down to eat my cake, and despite some stretching and massaging the spasms would return off and on while I was dancing the rest of the night.

**Probably for the best. Continue reading

Rock Love Wedding Photos: The Ceremony

7 Jul

Caitlin-Zack-W-349

Prepare yourselves for the photo dump of the century! We have tons* of amazing photos from the wedding that we want to share, so we’re breaking them down in a few posts. This one features the ceremony, and we’ve included the text from ours — what our officiant said, what we said in our vows, the reading we had our friend Monte do, and the speeches** later in the evening from our dads. Thanks for sharing in our memories, and stay tuned for more amazing photos (featuring serious dance face***).

*634 to be exact, from our incredible photographer Stefano.

**The next few posts will be very picture heavy, but this one’s a lot of words, since we have all the speeches in here, but we’ll try to space it out with some great ceremony pics as well, so stick with us.

***There are so many ridiculous pictures of all of us making hilarious sweaty dance faces that it made me wish we could get a professional photographer for all our parties.

Rock Love Honeymoon

5 Jul

drinks on beach

Our honeymoon really was exactly what we hoped for. We wanted a week to unwind, but also get some adventures in*. At any given time, we were usually doing one of two things: Relaxing in a hammock by the beach or pool, with a tropical drink and a book in hand or heading into the jungle or sea to meet the incredible wildlife of Belize. While we got to relax a ton, it was a great chance to get Caitlin out of her comfort zone to do things I doubt she thought she’d be comfortable doing**, like ride a tiny plane and jump off a boat to snorkel in the sea with sting rays.

*As we have shared with you here, we haven’t been great traditionally at taking “relaxing” vacations – we were used to rushing from place to place, trying to cram in as many experiences as possible. It was time to take it slow.

**Oh, I DEFINITELY thought I’d be terrified. Continue reading

Rock Love Wedding: Part 1 – Before We Walked Down The Aisle

7 Jun

Screen Shot 2015-06-07 at 11.28.03 AMHere’s a shock: I was never the girl who planned her wedding from childhood. Although I did dress up as a bride for one particularly fancy Halloween*, I never really dreamed of myself in any particular dress, with any particular decorations** at any particular place. What I did dream about was who I would end up with***. Someone with a somewhat unique name, perhaps, and broad shoulders and a big grin. I would fantasize about how and where we’d meet, and the kinds of things he’d be interested in.  You all know the rest — Caitlin meets Zack, offers ride, falls madly in love … and starts wedding dress shopping before the official proposal. OK, so I had to do at least a little pre-planning.

*I dressed up as a girl for Halloween in 6th grade, does that count?

**I wanted to joke about how I didn’t really care about these things either, but I was pretty opinionated when it came time to make most decisions. I wanted to utilize our blog colors, include rock couples and make it as much “us” as possible.

***This was always the only part that really mattered to me as well.

The Making of RockLoveWedding.com

23 Nov

Screen Shot 2014-11-16 at 8.56.17 AM
Oh hey, we have a new website. RockLoveWedding.com is now live. Don’t worry, we’ll still be updating RLA regularly* but a wedding deserves its own website. And since we sent out the Save the Date last week, we figured we’d put a spotlight on the website it directs you to. We’ve had fun creating RLW together the last month or so, from our engagement shoot with Caitlin’s dad to seeing the progress on Edward’s comic up through writing descriptions of our wedding party and creating a registry.

*As in, this is still 100% our blog. I feel like that makes it sound like we’ll be keeping RLW up on the reg. It’s pretty much done at this point.
